Henri Fantin-Latour (January 14, 1836 Grenoble - August 25, 1904 Bur_ (Orne), born Ignace Henri Jean Fantin-Latour, was a French painter and lithographer who mainly worked in 19th-century Paris. Latour belonged to the artistic movement of realism. He learned to paint from his father, Th_odore Fantin-Latour who mainly painted portraits.Life and work[edit]Fantin-Latour was educated at the _cole nationale sup_rieure des beaux-arts in Paris. He married the painter Victoria Dubourg in 1876. Fantin-Latour worked as a painter of portraits of, among others, his relatives and friends. He moved in circles of artists, including Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine, whom he recorded in his famous work Un coin de table (Mus_e d'Orsay). Fantin-Latour became most famous, however, for his lithography_n, on which he often depicts opera and music. He illustrated works by Wagner and Hector Berlioz. His still lifes with flowers as subjects are also considered to be his best works.
