Hermannus Adrianus van OOSTERZEE (Rotterdam 1863 - Utrecht 1933)
Lived in Rotterdam-Kralingen (until 1889), The Hague (until 1891), Rijswijk (until 1924) and Doorn (until 1933) and also worked in the provinces of Gelderland, Drenthe, North Brabant, Limburg and Zeeland. He also produced work during a study trip to Norway. The oeuvre consists of meadow, heathland, summer, moonlight and Norwegian night landscapes. Much of the work resembles that of the Hague School. Although he had been living and working near and in Rijswijk since 1891, it was not until 1910 that he came to the fore as one of the founders of the Vereenigde Rijswijksche Kunstschilders. H Herman van Oosterzee was a member of the Haagsche Kunstkring and Pulchri Studio in The Hague, Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and treasurer of the Dutch Support Committee for visual artists.
