Hubertine Heijermans studied at the University of Amsterdam, for which she took painting lessons with Jos Rovers. In 1958 she moved to Lausanne, and years later she started her own print shop in the mountains in Villars-sur-Ollon. The area around Villars served as a source of inspiration for Hubertine Heijermans, and she made various etchings of this area over decades.
Photo etchings are also part of her oeuvre. In addition to etchings and photo etchings, Hubertine Heijermans also makes many paintings. Self-portraits, but also portraits of famous people such as Naomi Campbell. A well-known work by Hubertine Heijermans is her self-portrait from 1959.
