Education: Jacob Maris attended classes at the Hague Academy and was a student of JAB Stroebel. From 1855 Maris studied at the Antwerp Academy for three years before returning to The Hague. The Hague
Jacob Maris is a painter of the Hague School, he is a Dutch impressionist. Jacob Maris was mainly specialized in painting landscapes. On his travels to Paris he became acquainted with impressionism there and took this influence back to the Netherlands. The work of Jacob Maris stands out for its coarse brushstrokes and atmospheric depiction of the sky.
