Jan Verhoeven was born in Bussum in 1917 and died here in 1997. Lived and worked in Bussum. Pupil of I. van Naarden (1936-1937, 1.5 years drawing lessons, of the National Schilderssschool in Utrecht (1938-1939, pupil of HA Dievenbach (1940-1944) and lessons in anatomy and modeling from Dirk te Nijenhuis in Bussum (1949-1953. He collaborated a lot and was advised by CL Vonk. Painted and drew classical-naturalistic, later more impressionistic, still lifes, portraits and landscapes Well-known restorer of old and modern paintings.Teached the 'Free Painters' association in Bussum (1958-1963).(Source: Scheen)
