The Amsterdam visual artist Jeroen BUITENMAN (born 25 November 1973, in Amsterdam) creates a surrealistic world in a traditional way of painting, in which images are created that display a fascinating, colorful and warm play of conflicting inner and outer beauties. Jeroen Buitenman is a fully self-taught visual artist and has been living and working in the Algarve, Portugal since 2007, where he expresses his painting talent. In his work he searches for the portrayal of feeling, of love and religion. Euphoria is often his goal. “It would be nice to be able to paint like the sound of a violin”. Surrealism gives him the opportunity to tell a story in a synthetic way, actually already created by biblical and mythological painting. “What is missing a lot in contemporary art for me is the use of oil paint, a material that resembles that violin to me. Working on paintings for a long time makes it more and more exciting, layer upon layer the paint acquires something brilliant and sensual. On average, I work on a canvas for three months, but also two years on some paintings.”
