Education: He was educated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He lives and works in Amsterdam.
Karl Pelgrom is best known for his monumental sculptures that can still be admired in various places. After having attended the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam in 1942, Karl Pelgom worked as a self-taught artist after the war as a sculptor and bronze caster in Amsterdam. In the early 1960s he moved to the province of Groningen, where he also taught at the Minerva Academy. Here he is later fired because he is setting a very innovative course and rebelling against the established order. Pelgrom's work tends towards abstraction and he makes many static figures of stone and wood, which is also reflected in his paintings and graphic work.
