Cornelis (Kees) BOENDERMAKER (Amsterdam, 27 May 1904 - Bergen (North Holland), 4 July 1979) was a Dutch painter, draftsman and watercolorist. He was educated at the State Academy of Art in Amsterdam and the School of Applied Arts in Harlem. He was a student of Arnout Colnot. In his parental home - his father was the well-known art collector Piet Boendermaker - he got to know the painters of the Bergen School and he soon had the opportunity to develop his talent. When Kees Boendermaker had left the Mulo, he wanted to further develop his painting talent. He first went to the Applied Arts School in Haarlem. Due to illness, unfortunately, he was forced to leave this educational institution. Led by Leo Gestel, who had a lot of influence on him, he worked for several months in the Beemster after his illness. Boendermaker worked in Amsterdam from 1923, he traveled to Paris, Budapest, Prague and Brittany. He settled in Bergen NH in 1947. His subjects include flower still lifes, figure representations, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. He worked in the style of the Bergen School and was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and the Artists Center Bergen (KCB).
