In his younger years Kees van Renssen was a student of both Theo Dobbelman and Lies Cosijn. He worked in the Experimental Department of De Porceleyne Fles, among others. As a Jewish artist, he traveled to Israel almost every year to gain inspiration. This is reflected in his work. In 1965 he set up his own studio in the Netherlands. Van Renssen's interests were in the constructive and the plastic element. His works are created quickly and are sometimes in a baroque style and sometimes in a strict style. The work he produces since 1970 is stricter and more sober than before. In addition to plastics, Van Renssen is also involved in monumental commissions.
