Nico SCHRIER (The Hague 1900 - Haarlem 1989)
Schrier started at the School of Applied Arts in Haarlem, the place where he also lived and worked in later life. The artist mainly worked with glass and completed many assignments as a glazier and glass painter. From 1919, Schrier worked under Willem Bogtman and designed stained glass windows for various clients in Haarlem. In 1923 he started his own studio in Haarlem, where he made and sold decorative art. In 1927 he started Atelier De Vonk together with Huib de Ru. Today Nico Schrier's work can be admired mainly in churches, but also in public buildings. The last window he designed and made was for his son's in-laws. In addition to glazing, Schier also made book bindings for publishers and made posters and advertisements.
