Sigurd PERSSON (Helsingborg 1917 - Stockholm 2003)
Silver designer Sigurd Persson learned the tricks of the trade at a young age from his father, who was a silversmith in Helsingborg. He studied successively in Munich and Stockholm and in 1942 set up his own studio where he designed cutlery and jewellery. In 1959 he worked for SAS products that could be used in the aircraft and from 1968 to 1982 he worked at the Kosta glass factory. In the 1960s and 1970s he set up a new studio in Helsingborg where he worked as an independent sculptor. According to Persson, a design should not only contain practical use, but also an expression of that time. He applied this to his designs through sculptural monumentality.
