Wilna VERHEUL (Rotterdam 1936)
In addition to her education at the Free Academy in The Hague, Wilna Verheul followed courses in glaze compositions and techniques, casting techniques and visual design in ceramics. Her products are constructed from different types of clay, which she combines as separate parts into a work of art. Her monumental ceramics consist of thick clay plates that serve as standing blocks. She provides these with decoration and calls them seating elements. In 2000 she decided to become a shipbuilder. This resulted in grand ship sculptures. Wilna works exclusively with unique pieces and currently has her own studio in Delft, called Keramika Voirdelf.
