The Artist Placement Group (APG) emerged in London in the 1960s. The organization wanted to redefine the role of the artist in a broader social context. They wanted to do this by giving artists the opportunity to be active in other, non-artistic environments. This led to different types of artworks. The APG thus played an important role in the history of conceptual art. Today the association exists as Organization and Imagination.
