Halmstadgruppen

The group was formed by six artists who were born or raised in Halmstad, Sweden. Members were educated in the 1920s in Berlin and Paris. During these periods abroad they came into contact with modern developments in art. After returning to Sweden they formed the Halmstadgruppen in 1929. Until the death of Stellan Mörner in 1979, after which the group was dissolved, the composition of the group remained unchanged. An extensive collection of works of art by the group is in the possession of Mjellby Art Museum in Halmstad.
