Les Hydrophiles originated from the Cercle des Aquarellistes et des Aquafortistes and was active in Brussels. Les Hydrophilis did not agree with the quality differences within the Cercle and therefore decided that they wanted to get out. The exhibitions they held did not feature oil painting, but other techniques. In addition to the members, invited guests also exhibited.
