Boerderij en poort in Brugge


Alfred Van Neste was een Belgische kunstenaar geboren in 1874 te Brugge en die gestorven is in 1969 te Sint-Genesius-Rode. Hij was een schilder, aquarellist, tekenaar, etser, illustrator en ontwerper van affiches. Opleiding o.l.v. zijn oom Fl. Van Acker en aan de Academies te Brugge en Antwerpen. Vestigde zich te Antwerpen en werd er leraar aan de Academie. Kreeg talrijke opdrachten van de stad, o.m. affiches, ontwerpen van praalwagens en kostuums voor de stoeten. Vestigde zich na de Eerste Wereldoorlog te Ukkel. Schilderde vooral oude, typische stadshoekjes, vaak te Brugge. Was ook actief als illustrator en illustreerde o.m. in 1912 de jubileumuitgave van De Leeuw van Vlaanderen van h. Conscience. Werk o.m. in de Musea te Brugge en Antwerpen. Vermeld in het Lexicon van Westvlaamse beeldende kunstenaars I, BAS I en Twee eeuwen signaturen van Belgische kunstenaars. Bron : P.
