Beautiful set of 2 unique works by Annemiki Bok (1953). Striking works because they seem to be rather atypical for the work of Annemiki Bok.
Technique: The works seem to have been made as a combination of acrylic or watercolor paint with wax, marker and/or pencil.
Signed in pencil with "Annemiki '94", lower right
They are beautifully and professionally framed with asymmetrical passe-partouts with blue core in blue aluminum exchange frames, matching the works. Some paint loss is visible on the blue Nielsen frames, but not disturbing.
They can hang on the wall! Photos are part of the description
About the artist:
After graduating from the Rietveld Academy, the originally Dutch artist Annemiki Bok worked as a teacher at the State Academy of Art for several years before turning her back on the Netherlands to settle in the Portuguese Algarve. After her return to our country, she will say the following about her Portuguese period: ”The great thing about my time in the Algarve is that I was able to develop my own palette independently of anyone or anything, with the country's sole influence being in all its facets as air, color and fragrance”.
Annemiki Bok's paintings are characterized by liveliness, movement and colour. Her own interpretation of nature is certainly not a picture but a combination of forces that have shaped the community. She manages to strike a fine line between realism and abstraction. On this fine line her works sometimes balance dynamically in color and sometimes in the accuracy of the movement of the figures and the conversation they have. Since 1990 Annemiki Bok has had several exhibitions to her name. Art lovers from all over the world, such as Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, have paintings by Annemiki; she also works on commission, such as a portrait of former State Secretary and Minister Tineke Netelenbos, which is included in the collection of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
"I try to walk my own path, the narrow path of realism and abstraction, through speed and use of color."
Annemiki Bok believes that feeling is more important than recognition. The works of the Dutch artist have been shown nationally in both solo and group exhibitions. Her portraits and landscapes are created by letting her emotions flow through the paint. Bok paints by applying oils with a knife, bending her colors both on the palette and directly on the canvas.
