Visual artist, writer and poet Ans Wortel (1929 – 1996) mainly made oil paintings, gouaches and drawings during her long artistic life. Her work covers a period of more than 50 years. In the early 1960s, Ans Wortel, who lived in Amsterdam, began to gain recognition for her work.
