Anton Heyboer schilderde de kip met acrylverf op geschept papier. Het schilderij is ingelijst in een fraaie brede houten lijst met bladzilver.
Anton Heyboer is geboren in 1924 in Sabung in het voormalige Nederlands Indië, als zoon van een werktuigbouwkundig ingenieur. In 1925 verhuist het gezin Heyboer naar Nederland. Uiteindelijk gaat Anton wonen in den Ilp.
Anton Heyboer is een hoog aangeschreven kunstenaar. Zijn werk kenmerkt zich door een gestileerd karakter, waarbij detaillering en perspectief weinig aandacht krijgen. Als thema’s in zijn werk komen veelvuldig kippen voor.
