Arno Overdevest is 12-10-1956 geboren in Berkel en Rodenrijs.
Sinds 1978 is hij werkzaam als beeldende kunstenaar. Hij heeft een MO-A akte handvaardigheid en een MO-B akte beeldende vorming behaald (afstudeerrichtingen o.a. metaal, boetseren, hout en keramiek), echter op het gebied van schilderkunst is hij autodidact.
Hij werkt hoofdzakelijk met thema’s die terugvoeren naar zijn jeugd, rond de boerderij en in de polder, waar zijn vader een houthandel, annex sloperij had.
Elk jaar begint hij aan een nieuw thema, maar pakt ook regelmatig de draad van voorgaande thema’s op. Enkele voorbeelden van de door Arno gebruikte thema’s zijn stieren, hobbelpaarden, kippen en varkens. De eerste werken van een nieuw thema zijn vrij naturalistisch, geleidelijk aan werkt hij naar abstracties toe.
Vaak werkt Arno direct uit de tube, waardoor hij snelheid en beweging in zijn schilderijen creëert.
Arno heeft al diverse exposities in binnen- en buitenland op zijn naam staan.
