This work is a tribute to two great inspirations in my life: the music of Miles Davis and the art of Herman Brood.
As a teenager I devoured the books of Bart Chabot, especially Broodje Gezond. Since then I was hooked. Brood's energy, its chaos and its colours drew me straight into art. His style is deeply ingrained in my DNA — raw, expressive, unfiltered.
At the same time, this work is saturated with memories of my single life: nights full of conversations with friends, the smell of coffee in the early morning, and always Miles Davis in the background. His music gave space — freedom, feeling, breath.
The title "Freedom Lives in Colour" says it all. Freedom is not in rules or frameworks, but in expression. In daring to feel, daring to play.
This original canvas is made with acrylic, spray can and airbrush on cotton.
