Maurits, die bestaande schilders stijlen mixt
waardoor zijn werk raakvlakken heeft met zowel het abstract-expressionisme als Street- en popart, laat zich wel vaker inspireren door
foto’s of beelden uit de mainstream media of privé archief. De
thematiek binnen zijn werk zijn in de regel mensfiguren & portretten. Het
thema zelfs is vaak alleen maar de aanleiding om de penselen te laten roffelen
en aan het werk te gaan. Zijn onderwerpen liggen hem na aan het hart en zijn
een directe weergave en reactie op zijn dagelijkse leven. Zijn eigen verhaal is
niets bijzonders maar juist daarom is zijn kunst voor iedereen te bevatten.
