Cees (CCJ) Andriessen (Wageningen, 20 March 1940) is regarded in the Netherlands as one of the leading representatives of the non-figurative art of his generation. His oeuvre consists of drawings and especially linoleum and woodcuts, including numerous ex-libris. The depictions are abstract, the forms clear, the use of color is sparse, superficially the pages remain empty. Cees Andriessen lives and works in Apeldoorn. Andriessen was born the son of a typographer. In Nijmegen he attended graphic arts school and then started working as a printer. After working in printing for several years, he became an advertising designer and illustrator. He also started an evening study at the Academy of Visual Arts in Arnhem. In 1969 he established himself as a free artist. His graphic work includes linocuts, which originated from 1969, and woodcuts, with which he has been working since 1985. Cees Andriessen sees a great kinship between artist and writer, which has resulted in a number of bibliophile editions and collaboration projects with Dutch authors, including Cees Nooteboom, Anna Enquist and Willem van Toorn. Andriessen regularly makes a print based on a poem he has selected, which is published in a special edition by the De Witte Mier Foundation, which he founded in 1994. Condition Good
