Cornelis Antonie Severijnen (Moerdijk, 27 februari 1902 - Den
Haag, 16 april 1988), beter bekend als Cees Severijnen, was een Nederlandse
schilder.
De werken in deze veiling zijn gemaakt rond 1950/1955. Het
interessante hiervan is dat deze periode feitelijk overlapt met de
Cobra-periode (Appel / Alechinsky / Jorn / Corneille ect ...). Hij is daarom
een tijdgenoot van de beroemde Cobra-beweging geweest en dit maakt deze
schilderijen vrij zeldzaam.
Kijkend naar de schilderijen zie je dat Cees Severijnen in
feite nieuwe kunst ontdekte, zocht en creëerde. Dit maakt deze werken speciaal.
