Het eerste echt voorbereide project van Christo en Jeanne-Claude is de rue Visconti.
Parijs, 27 juni 1962, om 18 uur 30 verschijnt Christo met een vrachtwagen vol olievaten in de smalle rue Visconti op de linkeroever van de Seine. . Ze zijn door Christo uitgezocht op kleur en oppervlaktestructuur zonder ze verder te bewerken.
Christo ( zonder de gevraagde toestemming ) , stapelt ze over de volledige breedte van het straatje op en poseert voor een foto.
Het bouwen duurt amper een half uur, waarna de 240 vaten de smalle straat tot op een hoogte van bijna vier meter compleet barricadeerd.
Jeanne-Claude en enkele vrienden en bekenden zijn aanwezig, waaronder: Jacques de Guillebon, haar stiefvader, Pierre Restany, vriend, kunstcriticus en de stichter van les Nouveaux Réalistes en Leo Castelli, New Yorkse Galleriehouder.
