Cornelis Kloos was born on November 11, 1895 in Rotterdam and died on April 8, 1976 in The Hague.
Kloos received a technical education at the Technical University in Delft and artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and at the Hans Hofmann Schule für Bildende Kunst in Munich. He was also a pupil of André Lhôte in Paris. Later, Otti Henkemans and Elisabeth Sciarone were his pupils again. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was appointed as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague.
As an artist, Cornelis was mainly active in Rotterdam, The Hague, Delft, Breda, Teteringen, Paris and Munich.
In addition to being a sculptor, Kloos was active as a painter, draftsman and watercolorist who focused on (nude) figure representations, cityscapes and landscapes.
Cornelis Kloos was a member of the Hague Art Circle (general secretary) and Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
