Dirk Douwe Osinga geboren 1913 te Leeuwarden, woonde er werkte daar tot 1935, Amsterdam tot 1939, Leeuwarden, Antwerpen, Parijs tot 1940, Leeuwarden tot 1946, Den Haag tot 1947, en daarna in Sneek .
Leerling van de Rijksacademie te Amsterdam o.l.v. J.H. Jurres, H.J. Wolter en W.H. v.d. Berg, van het Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten te Antwerpen o.l.v. J. Opsomer , later nog van Piet van der Hem in Den Haag. Zeer veelzijdig Schilder en Kunstenaar.
Gaf les op diverse kunstnijverheid scholen en Gymnasia enkele leerlingen van hem zijn P. v.d. Brug, M. Kuipers en F. Sonnema.
Was lid van " Boun fan Fryske Kunstners"
Staat o.a. vermeld in de Pieter Scheen .
