Edmond Wingen painted still lifes, portraits, figures and landscapes in an expressive, fauvist style, with a bright and lively colouring. He also made pottery paintings for vases, plates and tiles and sculpted small plastics.
He was educated at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Maastricht and the academies of Den Bosch, Antwerp and Düsseldorf.
Wingen lived in Maastricht and from 1936 in The Hague and made study trips to France and Denmark.
He was a member of various artists' associations, such as the Professional Association of Visual Artists, the International Institute of Arts and Letters and was co-founder of the Hague branch of the Dutch Art Circle.
