- Erlend Steiner Lovisa (1970) makes still lifes with people as their subject. His paintings and etchings originate from photos of women in a pose staged by him. The photos are the sketches that serve as the basis for the still life. Lately, Erlend has been fascinated by a lot of or long hair. He mainly takes the photos in nature: the beach, the dunes, grassland or a wall. Erlend uses shadow and light in his paintings and etchings; so the sun has to shine, preferably during a late afternoon sun. He leaves out unnecessary things in the artwork. This reinforces the businesslike realism of the still life.
