Ferdinand Eckhardt - Fish market Rotterdam

Steel engraving on paper entitled "Vischmarkt Rotterdam". The work, depicting a number of fishing boats moored at the pre-war fish market, is unnumbered and signed in pencil. The engraving is believed to date from 1921.
The work is described in an article by L. Fontijne, published in the Elseviers Geïllustreerd Maandschrift. Volume 32 (1922).
The special thing about the engraving is that 100 years ago, in 1923, it was the 1st prize for tennis matches that were held on the Ice Club grounds that year. On the back of the work it is written in pencil: '1st prize men's double and mixed double Autumn competitions “Ice club site” Rotterdam 1923'.
