Fons Verstraeten - Marktkraam. - Sold

The painter Alfons 'Fons' Verstraeten was born on January 20, 1922 in Delft. He comes from the Flemish family Verstraeten - Torfs, from which various artists, including talented musicians, have emerged. His family is based in Antwerp, where he also completed his internship at the art academy. He lived in Nijmegen until 1971, where he taught painting and drawing at the "Free University". He was a member of the GBKN Nijmegen artists' association for 12 years, of which two years on the board. From 1957 to today he lived for several years in Menton/France, on the Cote d'Azur and in Spain where he worked and exhibited. He has lived in Switzerland since 1980. Fons Verstraeten is already mentioned in Peter Scheen's encyclopedia "Dutch artists from 1750 - 1950". His work has been acquired by many national and international collections. Photos of Fons Verstraeten are on display in the OKW ministry in The Hague and Amsterdam, as well as in the University of Nijmegen. Since 1969 he has exhibited almost exclusively in the Kocken Gallery in Kevelaer. The first exhibition was organized by the Dutch Consul, Dr. Freiherr von Vittinghoff-Schell opened.
