De kunstschilder Gerardus Antonius Alexander Nicolaas (Gé of Gerard) Hurkmans woonde en werkte in zowel zijn geboorteplaats Tilburg als in Bergen op Zoom, Den Bosch en Amsterdam.
Hurkmans was leerling van de Akademie Katholieke Leergangen te Tilburg o.l.v. Jan van Delft en van de Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Bosch o.l.v. A. Falise, Piet Slager en André Verhorst.
Hurkmans schildert, aquarelleert en tekent voornamelijk landschappen (geabstraheerd).
Hij heeft les gegeven aan A.P. Kluijtmans, was lid van het Algemeen Katholiek Kunstenaars Verbond A.K.K.V. en was Adjunct-directeur Kon. Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving in Den Bosch.
