De schilderijen van Sauerbier tonen hoe hij de wereld het
liefst zou zien. Vol vreugde, kleuren, magie en het onverwachte. De westerse

door verre volkeren en primitieve stammen.
In zijn werk komen veel verwijzingen voor naar de natuur. Vooral de wereld van
de vissen intrigeert hem.
