Gustave Asselberg werkte hard en snel, maar toch heel zorgvuldig, met een heldere bezetenheid. Hij moest zichzelf bijhouden wat betreft zijn evolutie. Hij had als kunstenaar wat te zeggen en was niet bang dit in zijn werk te doen of te schreeuwen desnoods. Zo diende bijvoorbeeld ook de scheuren die hij aanbracht in zijn collages: hij ging uit van de oorspronkelijke illustraties en taal, maar vervreemde dat zo, dat ze zeiden wat hij wilde zeggen.
Deze catalogus geeft een overzicht van de werken die werden getoond in de tentoonstelling gewijd aan hem. Ook bevat de catalogus enkele citaten uit verscheidene brieven van Asselbergs.
Let op: de kleur van het voorblad is in werkelijkheid minder fel en d 's' is groen i.p.v. blauw.
