Het grafische werk van Han Mes (1936 - ) is zeer herkenbaar .... Ze geldt als een van de belangrijkste levende beeldend kunstenaressen die ons land momenteel kent, zonder dat dat in haar geval ertoe heeft geleid dat ze BN’er werd. In de betrekkelijke anonimiteit van haar atelier in Bergen (NH) is ze aan haar oeuvre blijven werken en kon ze die status bereiken. Roddelrubtieken, rode lopers en andersoortige publiciteit had Han Mes (1936) niet nodig. Haar schilderijen waarin de mens en het landschap centraal staan, verkochten zich met hun kwaliteit meer dan voldoende om haar daarmee die landelijke reputatie en die drie overzichtstentoonstellingen in het Singer Museum in Laren te bezorgen. Voor de rest had zij met haar Zaanse nuchterheid geen publicitaire polonaise aan haar lijf nodig om dat instituut voor kunstminnend Nederland te worden dat zij nu is.
