Henri Frédéric Boot was born in Maastricht on February 8, 1877 and died in Haarlem on March 3, 1963.
First studied classical languages at the University of Leiden. (1895-1899) - not finished.
Then in 1899 he went to the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam.
Had many students, including Kees Verwey, Otto B. de Kat, Leo de Winter, Wim Steyn, Eduard Verboog and Piet Kloes.
Was a member of the artists' associations Arti et Amicitiae, Sint Lucas and De Onhoudenen. Also chairman of the artists' association "Kunst Zij Ons Doel" in Haarlem for many years.
