Moest van zijn ouders een muziekopleiding volgen, maar richtte op zolder een <<Atelier de peinture et de musique>> op. Voorkeur voor o.a. portretten, figuren, genretaferelen, landschappen. Vond zijn inspiratie voornamelijk in het Antwerpse en de Kempen en schilderde ook vaak de boer met zijn paard. Werkte met Verlat mee aan de <<Slag bij Waterloo>> en een panorama te Moskou. Reisde naar Noord-Italië en verbleef ook enige tijd in Nederland, waar hij o.m. inspiratie vond in Zeeland, Katwijk, Veere. Werd in 1855 leraar aan de Academie te Antwerpen. Vermeld in BAS I en III.
