August Alleb_ en C.L.Dake.Van beroep was hij kunsthandelaar en tevens kunstschilder van interieurs, met figuren en landschappen. Grote bekendheid kreeg hij door zijn etsen naar schilderijen van o.a. Jacob Maris.
