Het oeuvre van Anton Dirckx bestaat grotendeels uit impressionistische landschappen, stadsgezichten en havengezichten, in olieverf en aquarel. Bijzondere aandacht had Dirckx voor de Hollandse bollenvelden. Na zijn opleiding aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam maakte de kunstenaar een studiereis naar Italië, waar hij inspiratie opdeed voor verschillende schilderijen. Anton Dirckx werkte veel samen met Adriaan de la Rivière. Hij was ook graficus (etser).
