Vlot geschilderd zittend model. Het werk is geschilderd op 5mm dik karton.
Jacob Groot (Jac.); geboren 11 september 1897 in Amsterdam, overleden op 23 november 1984 te Heemstede. Woonde en werkte in Amsterdam, later in Heemstede.
Leerling van de Kunstnijverheidsschool 'Quellinus' en later van de Rijksacademie van Amsterdam. Schilderde, aquarelleerde en tekende. Was tevens reclame- ontwerper. Lid van 'Kunst zij ons doel' te Haarlem. ( Max van Waay)
Voor zijn levensonderhoud was Jacob Groot voornamelijk aangewezen op zijn reclamewerk, waarin hij uitblonk. Met zijn vrije werk trad hij niet zo naar buiten, en deze schitterende kunstwerken werden, eenmaal voltooid, zorgvuldig opgeborgen in mappen. Uit zijn nalatenschap kwamen deze mappen na jaren tevoorschijn en kunnen de werken eindelijk voor het eerst getoond worden aan het publiek.
