Jacobus Schijnvoet We know little more about Jacobus Schijnvoet than that he was an engraver and lived in Amsterdam in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He is best known for engraving drawings by Roeland Rochman for the Smids Treasury. He also engraved and published his own drawings to a limited extent. Claas Bruin's Kleefse- en Zuid-Hollandsche Arkadia, in which Smids made notes, contains a title and vignette drawn by Schijnvoet. Schijnvoet usually marked his work with 'JSF' under the engraving; sometimes he wrote in the print: 'J. Sham foot fecit'. Three treasures in the Treasury were based on his own sketches, the Ruins of the Castle in Abkoude, the House in Loenersloot and the newer foundation of the destroyed House in Vreeland. He wrote in full: 'J. Schynvoet ad Vivum del. et fec'.
