Nul betekend een nieuwe start, eerder een idee dan een bepaalde stijl of vorm, het afstand doen van wat geen levensvatbaarheid meer heeft. De kunstenaar treedt terug en de gemeenschappelijke gedachten inspireren tot haast anonieme werken. Zo ontstaan er objecten, oppervlakken, structuren, vibraties en reflecties die niet meer lijken op de traditionele beeldende kunst.
De bedoeling van deze tentoonstelling was het laten zien van zoveel mogelijk laatste werk van de deelnemende kunstenaars. Het doel was een overzicht te geven van de stromingen die zich tot dusverre presenteerden onder namen als zero, nul, nouveau réalisme, nouvelle tendence en arte programmata.
Catalogus deel 1 geeft een overzicht van de kunstenaars die deelnamen aan deze tentoonstelling en deel 2 bevat foto's van de werken die onderdeel waren van deze tentoonstelling.
