Jan van Wensveen (1935) doorliep van 1951 tot 1956 de opleiding illustratie en grafische technieken van de kunstnijverheidsschool, de voorloper van de Gerrit Rietveld academie in Amsterdam. Na deze opleiding werkte hij als illustrator en grafisch ontwerper, publiceerde strips en werkte aan tekenfilms. Kort tijd werkte hij voor Vrij Nederland, de Telegraaf en Marten Toonders-studio’s. In 1965 besloot hij verder te gaan als vrij kunstenaar. Van 1980 tot 1984 werkte hij als docent aan de Academie voor Bouwkunst te Arnhem.
