Jeroen Hermkens - Fort Vuren

Lithograph by the Utrecht artist Jeroen Hermkens (artist of the year in 2006) of the “Fort Vuren” (2001). This fort is owned by Staatsbosbeheer and is part of the New Dutch Waterline. The fort is located in Vuren in the municipality of West Betuwe in the Dutch province of Gelderland.
This is an exceptionally large work (usually Hermkens' lithographs are only 52 * 42 cm or 57 * 75 cm, this work is 4 times as large) in a small edition (only 20 pieces, while the edition at Hermkens is usually 75 pieces). . The large lithograph is framed and in perfect condition ( the lithograph comes with a book about the artist ).
Jeroen Hermkens (St. Anthonis, March 31, 1960) trained at the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht and Atelier lithografique Champfleury in Paris. He received the Dutch Graphics Prize in 1996 for his large lithographs, and in 2006 he was named Dutch artist of the year. His works can be seen at home and abroad, including exhibitions in Vienna, New York, New Orleans, Beauvais and Bruges. In the Netherlands, his work has been exhibited in Museum Flehite in Amersfoort, Museum de Buitenplaats in Eelde, Museum Rijswijk, Slot Zeist, the Singer in Laren and the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. In 2000, CNN showed a film about his work worldwide. Following his election as Artist of the Year, Jeroen had an exhibition in Museum Jan van de Togt in Amstelveen in 2008. In the following years he traveled the world for the dredging company Van Oord, which resulted in the Koos van Oord Collection that was presented in 2010 in the Kunsthal Rotterdam. A series of his lithographs were included in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 2013
