Jerre Hakse (86) is a Frisian artist whose neo-expressionist paintings arise from a deep passion for colors and shapes. For more than 60 years he has been creating unique works of art that transport the viewer to fantastic worlds. His paintings are full of surprising details that stimulate the imagination: vast beautiful landscapes, bizarre biotopes, mysterious underwater worlds. Jerre Hakse has had a special relationship with colors since he was a child. He says: “I practically 'eaten' tubes of color. As a child I knew what red and yellow tasted like.”
At the end of the 1980s, his work was featured in a spectacular retrospective at the Princessehof Museum in Leeuwarden.
Nowadays, his work is once again in the spotlight, as evidenced by the major exhibition of his work in Germany, which can still be seen.
