Jerre Hakse (1937 Leeuwarden Netherlands), expressionist and Frisian artist in heart and soul. From his early childhood he knew that he wanted to be a visual artist. Jerre paints from his emotion and thus creates illusions with paint. Invisible worlds become visible on his canvases. The bright colors on the canvas radiate a great vitality, the vitality of the painter himself. For Jerre, painting means breathing. As an artist, Jerre has a unique signature to which he has always remained faithful. In this way soul and feelings are exposed in a fascinating expressionism.
Source Wikipedia :
Hakse is an artist self-taught. He makes expressionist paintings, gouaches and (pen) drawings. He exhibited several times, including in the Fries Museum and at Pictura. In 1962 Hakse settled with fellow artist Josum Walstra in the former warehouse De Blauwe Hand in Harlingen, where they set up a studio and opened a gallery. After a few years he moved back to Leeuwarden, where he had a studio on the Vliet. In 1967 he opened café-chantant Passe Partout opposite. Hakse made a number of sculptures in the 1970s that were placed in public space in Friesland, including the monument to Arjen Sevenster in Stiens.
