Beautiful work by Jerre Hakse.
It is part of a triptych, one of which I offer for sale here. If there is enough interest, I will offer the other two paintings soon.
Hakse is a self-taught artist. He makes expressionist paintings, gouaches and (pen) drawings. He exhibited several times, including in the Fries Museum and at Pictura.
In 1962, Hakse settled with fellow artist Josum Walstra in the former warehouse De Blauwe Hand in Harlingen, where they set up a studio and opened a gallery. After a number of years he moved back to Leeuwarden, where he had a studio on the Vliet. In 1967 he opened café-chantant Passe Partout opposite.
