Joep Coppens - Dienstbaarheid - Met Elkaar - Sold

The large version of this bronze statue can be found at the convent of the Franciscan sisters in Veghel. Coppens made it at the 150th anniversary of the congregation. The statue expresses the sisters' servitude. The artist opted for a semi-abstract interpretation. The two human figures, one of which is wearing the sister's hood, are bent towards each other and reach out to each other. Together they form an arc, the two arcs together form humanity on earth, expressing service and receiving. The statue is crowned with the Franciscus Cross, which refers to Saint Francis whom the sisters chose as their patron saint when they founded their monastery.
