Johan Hendrik Kaemmerer (1894-1978) werd in Den Haag geboren als zoon van sierkunstenaar J.H. Kaemmerer. Kaemmerer Junior was in zijn geboorteplaats leerling aan de Academie van Beeldende Kunsten o.l.v. J.G. van Jole en Ype Wenning. Hij bleef zijn leven lang trouw aan de impressionistische schilderwijze van de Haagse School, zonder zich te wagen aan nieuwe stromingen.
