Johannes Josseaud werd geboren in Amsterdam op 21 april 1880. Hij woonde en werkte in Amsterdam tot 1902, Bussum tot 1903, Amsterdam tot 1911, Schoten (Haarlem) tot 1919, Zandvoort tot 1926) en tot zijn dood op 10 november 1935 in Haarlem. In Amsterdam kreeg hij les van de kunstschilder/illustrator L.W.R. Wenckebach. Johan Josseaud schilderde, tekende, aquarelleerde, etste en lithografeerde stadsgezichten (vooral Amsterdam en Haarlem), landschappen, interieurs , stillevens en zeegezichten. Hij is een relatief onbekende kunstenaar gebleven. Werk van zijn hand is opgenomen in de collectie van het Frans Halsmuseum te Haarlem.
